General Cash Handling Guidelines

Topic Progress:

General Guidelines

Elite Golf Management has adopted the following cash handling guidelines to help ensure the protection of the facility and the employees who handle the cash.  All forms of payment are equally great in significance; however, cash must be dealt with care and responsibility.  All employees should take greater caution when dealing with cash to avoid potential problems.

Elite Golf facilities will accept several transaction tender types which may include but are not limited to cash, credit card, personal checks, traveler’s checks and specialty tenders such as gift certificates and credit book.  See a facility manager to confirm which types of tenders are used at the facility.

Employees are required to read and understand all cash handling guidelines and procedures before being trained in a position that requires cash handling.  A manager, assistant manager or qualified supervisor must review and demonstrate the procedures with the employee.

Cash

Only United States currency will be accepted at Elite Golf facilities located in the United States of America.  Employees will check each bill and coin to verify that it is US currency and not foreign or counterfeit.  All cash from sales must be turned in with the nightly deposit.

If a guest issues a bill or coin that is not US currency, please alert the customer that the facility does not accept that form of payment and ask if they have another form of payment to use.  If a guest issues a bill that is questionable in looks and potentially could be counterfeit, ask the customer if they have another bill or form of payment to use.

Credit cards

Only approved credit cards will be accepted at Elite Golf facilities.  Please see a manager for the current list of credit cards accepted at the facility.  All credit card payments must be signed by the card holder and turned in with the nightly deposit.  The credit card receipt must have an authorization code to verify that it was approved and the transaction is complete.  Please see the picture to the right.

Personal Checks

Elite Golf facilities may or may not accept personal checks from within the state of the facility.  Check with a manager to confirm personal checks are accepted.  If the facility accepts personal checks the following procedures will be used.  Employees must verify a check issuer’s personal information before accepting the form of payment.  Employees should first verify that the check is from within the state of the facility.  Next the employee should verify the name and address on the check matches the issuer’s driver’s license.  The employee will print the issuer’s driver’s license number, state license issued in and expiration date on the top of the check as well as the issuer’s phone number.  The check must be made out to the facility, for the correct amount, filled out correctly and signed by the issuer.

Traveler’s Checks

Only approved traveler’s checks will be accepted at Elite Golf facilities.  Please see a manager for the current list of traveler’s checks accepted at the facility.  All traveler’s checks must be filled out and signed in accordance to the check’s instructions.  All traveler’s checks must be signed by the issuer and turned in with the nightly deposit.
