Closing Procedures

Topic Progress:

It is important to end the day properly to prepare for the next day of business.  A strong closing will help prepare the business and fellow employees for a new day.  The doors and operation will close at the set hours of operation and when all daily/closing procedures have been accomplished.

Pre Closing

  • Merchandise displays need to be checked. Fold, hang, and fill displays throughout the shop.
  • The back counter and surrounding areas should be clean and clear of excess materials.
  • Verify that all groups/events and all players on the tee sheet have been properly checked in.
  • Print off tee sheets for the following day: 1 for the golf shop, 1 for player’s services, and 1 for the starters.

Closing The Golf Shop

  • Count out the cash drawers and close down the POS register.
  • Place all paperwork and cash in a cash deposit envelope and turn in to accounting.
  • Verify that all of the cash banks from all departments are correct, sign off on the sign out sheet, and store them in the safe.
  • Retrieve all group/event information to be put out the next morning and leave on the counter.
  • Retrieve all daily event information such as broker paperwork, bill back paperwork, and group/event billing for the next day and leave on the counter.
  • Make sure the golf shop is clean and ready for the following day.

Closing For Business

  • Walk through the facility to check for trash and debris that can be taken care of before the next business day.
  • Check the bathrooms for supplies and cleanliness.
  • After all guests and employees have exited the facility, lock the exterior doors, the golf shop doors and turn off all of the lights to the facility.
  • Make sure to turn on the alarm before exiting the club house. (if applicable)
  • Check the front entrance and parking lot for trash, debris, and anything that sends the wrong message to our guests.
  • Make sure there are no more guests, employees, or cars in the parking lot before exiting the facility.
  • Close and lock the gate when leaving the facility. (if applicable)
