Attendance Policies

Topic Progress:

Hours of operation

Elite Golf facilities are typically open 365 days of the year (weather permitting).  Hours of operation are determined by management and are typically set to allow for play from sunrise to sunset.  Operating hours are subject to change based on the season and the weather.

Attendance

Every employee is required to be punctual and regular in attendance.  This means arriving to work, ready to work at the start of your scheduled shift.

If you are ill, injured or an unexpected emergency arises which prevents you from coming to work, you must notify your supervisor no later than thirty (30) minutes after the start of your scheduled shift.  If you cannot reach your supervisor, you must contact a member of management.  Leaving a voicemail or a message with a fellow staff employee is not considered proper notification.

If you call in absent, you are to advise the company of your expected date of return.  Management reserves the right to require proof (such as a doctor’s note) for any illness, injury, accident or temporary disability.

If you become ill at work, notify your supervisor immediately. If you are unable to perform your job task, you will be either sent home or to a doctor. You will be paid only for the time actually worked unless you are eligible for sick time.

All vacations and other scheduled time off must be arranged as far in advance as possible.

Poor attendance, continual tardiness or absence without notification (“no call/no show”) will subject employees to appropriate disciplinary action, including termination.

Work schedule requirements

Our work requirements vary significantly depending on the weather, season and customer demand. It is our responsibility to meet critical deadlines, sometimes with little notice.  As a result, you may be required to work overtime with or without notice.  When requested by your supervisor, overtime is mandatory; it is a condition of your employment.  However, all overtime work must be approved and scheduled by your supervisor.

Staff meetings

We make every effort to hold staff meetings during your scheduled shift.  Although, we occasionally may schedule meetings that require every staff member to be present, regardless of their work schedule.  Written notification for such mandatory meetings will be distributed in advance.

Bulletin boards

Bulletin boards located in the employee areas of the facility display notices and announcements for employees to review.  It is your responsibility to review the bulletin boards several times per week to be aware of posted information.

Time clock

Employees are responsible for clocking themselves in and out and verifying their hours prior to submitting them for payroll.  No employee may clock in or out on behalf of a fellow employee except for a manager.  If a problem occurs with time keeping, immediately report it to your supervisor so he/she can make any necessary adjustments.

Employees may only clock in up to 5 minutes before their scheduled shift and must clock out no later than 5 minutes after their scheduled shift ends.  Should you need to come in early or stay later than your scheduled shift, you must get approval from a manager before you work any overtime.

Please see procedures for clocking in/out for work and hour verification process.

Breaks

Employees will receive one paid 10 minute break for every 3.5 hours worked during a shift.  Breaks may vary from employee to employee based on the schedule established by your supervisor but generally should be taken during slower traffic periods.  Employees are encouraged to take their paid 10 minute breaks.

Meal Periods (lunch break)

All employees working 8 continuous hours are required to take a 30 minute lunch break.  Your lunch break is an unpaid break; hourly employees are required to clock out for lunch.  Breaks may vary from employee to employee based on the schedule your supervisor establishes.

Managers will schedule employees with the 30 minute lunch break in mind.  For example, if you are scheduled to work an 8 hour shift, your schedule will reflect an 8 ½ hour block of time to allow you to work a full 8 hour hours and take your 30 minute lunch break.
